New Blog Feature: Duck Weather Reports

Hi Friends,

Today, we're introducing a new feature on our Duck Tailgate Blog. As many of you regular Tailgaters may have noticed in your weekly Saturday conversations, we have a regular weather aficionado amongst us almost every week at Autzen. Last week, he even attended a weather conference at OMSI with the local weather guys to find out what La Nina has in store for us this Winter. No, I'm not kidding. How rad is that? So, we decided that it was time to take advantage of this man's love of all things weather and mad meteorology skills.

Introducing ... AmatO's Weather FOrecast
Each week, tune in to find out what's in store for our Ducks (and those of us that are braving the elements to tailgate). Up next... DUCKS VS USC this Saturday. Will the sun shine on the Gameday Crew as they make their way to L.A.? Will the fair weather Trojans be able to hang on to those slick balls? Either way, meteorologist Amato will let us know what to expect.

Let's just hope he's better than this guy.

Stay Tuned!

We're #1! + UCLA Game Plans

The bad news... Driving to and from PDX on a Thursday isn't too fun (and work on Friday is going to be pretty awful)

The good news...  Personally, watching a game at Autzen is one of the best things I can think of doing on a Thursday night. I think most of you would agree.

The GREAT news...We're going to be watching the #1 Team in the nation! (Well, according to humans that is, and I don't know about you but I trust humans a lot more than computers)

Kickoff is scheduled for 6pm. I'm not sure if we are going to do an organized theme/food for this one since its a Thursday game and I'm not sure about everyones timing.  Let me know if you are going to be there for the pre-game festivities (by clicking on the Comments link below).

I'll send an update by Wednesday and let you know if we are going to do food or not.  If we decide not to do it this week, it will just be BYOB and BYOF.  BUT rest assured we'll be back with a bacon-wrapped vengeance for the U-Dub game. Theme TBD but awesome I'm sure.

A special thanks to Megan Roos' Facebook page for the photo from Sunday Nights BCS Standings program.

Gameday Gameday Gameday. Stanford on 10/2

Is anyone else having a hard time concentrating on work this week? Crap. It's only Tuesday.
That means we have 5 days of anticipation leading up to the big game. It's almost time for our Ducks to take on the "trees" from Stanford and I think we're ready to kick some Redwood ass! Speaking of ass...

Really tree? Really?

Anyway, kickoff is at 5pm but we'll start the party early in the day. I'll update the blog later this week with timing. Sounds like we're going to have a big crew this week (I mean, who wouldn't want to go this one?)

Theme and menu for the week is.... Oktoberfest! We'll be grilling up some brats and sides and rumor has it that everyone's favorite German Beer Wench Monika (that is a term of endearment in Deutschland) will be whipping up some German potato salad. If you have any requests, email myself, Ashley or Monika. Just like last year, RSVP to the blog (and pass along to anyone else you know is coming) so that we can shop accordingly. Cost for food is $5.00 per person.
GO DUCKS! Oh and when doing a search for the Stanford mascot, I came across this Facebook page. It only has 4 members but I like it. VIEW FACEBOOK PAGE

Update Thursday 9/16:

No organized food this week so when you are packing your own rolling cooler with beer, bring your own food as well :)

Go Ducks!

Just a quick update.

9/18 vs PSU

Well we're 2 and O and it feels good. Sounds like those of you that made it to Tennessee this past weekend weathered the storm and represented us well. On to the next one... The game on Saturday is against PSU with kickoff @ 3:15pm. Since there is a Sigma Chi Alumni event, I know a lot of the usual suspects will probably not be eating at the tailgate. We're still planning to do a little something to soak up the Bud Light so let me know if you are interested and we'll make sure to get enough food. Just COMMENT below with the # of people and bring along your $5!

GO DUCKS!

Home Opener vs. New Mexico

Ladies and Gentleman...start your engines. Oh wait wrong sport! It's time for another exciting season of Duck football. Now that we know who will be our starting quarterback we can start getting ready for our first tailgate of the season. We've added another spot in the Masonic lodge, T3. Welcome Ben and Sarah!

Since a lot of people will be out of town this weekend, we are not planning to organize a tailgate meal. We'll have our BBQ (Thanks Jeff & Dani...after two years, Andy finally fixed that BBQ you gave us) so feel free to bring something to grill.

I know it's shameless to have a photo of my son on the blog but it's the only photo I could find in the few minutes I had to write this!

See you on Saturday.
